In your prayers . . .

please remember:

Grant, O Lord, to all who are bereaved, the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have the strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of thy great goodness in past years, and in the sure expectation of a joyful reunion in the heavenly places; and this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

all who have recently been bereaved:

O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers:
Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to thy servants the help of thy power: that sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.     Amen

Text Box: I sit in quietness with my Lord
His beauty all around
These precious moments I afford
To worship Him who’s crowned
The King of Glory Lord of All
And Saviour of my soul
The one who’ll raise me when I fall
O Lord I thee extol
Text Box: Lord God, your Son Jesus Christ suffered
before he entered his glory:
Make us willing to deny ourselves,
take up the cross, and share in his footsteps,
that we may share in his eternal joy;
who lives and reigns with you
Text Box: THE TWO MOTHERS
Long long ago, as I have been told
Two angels once met, on streets paved with gold
‘By the stars in your crown’ - said one to the other
‘I see on earth that you too were a mother.
And by the blue tinted halo you wear
You too have known sorrow and deep despair’.
‘Ah yes’, she replied, ‘I once had a son
A sweet little lad, full of laughter and fun
When I looked at him I knew I was blessed
From the moment I first held him close to my breast
And my heart almost burst from the joy of the day’.
‘Indeed’, said the other, ‘I felt the same way’.

The former continued ......

‘The first steps he took so eager and breathless
That sweet startled look that came over his face.
He trusted me so’.
‘Ah yes’, said the other, ‘how well do I know -
Quite soon he had grown to a tall handsome boy
So stalwart and kind, it gave me great joy
To have him just walk down the road by my side’
‘I know’, said the other, ‘I felt the same pride
How often I shielded and spared him from pain
But for mankind, he was truly slain
They crucified him and spat on his face
How gladly I would have hung in his place’.

A moment of silence .....

‘Oh-oh! Then you are she
The Mother of Christ’, as she fell on her knee
But the blessed one lifted her up, drew her near
And kissed from the cheek of the woman, a tear.
‘Tell me the name of your son you loved so
That I may share in your grief and your woe’.
As she lifted her eyes and looked straight at the other
‘He was Judas Iscariot, I am his mother’.
